A Fun Night

With 40 years of concert experience I am always wary of arena concerts. This show relieved any nervousness I had about attending this show at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, Maine. The sound quality for ALL four acts was terrific. The three openers played to the crowd as though they were the headliners. Cage the Elephant took to the stage with fury and did not let up for their entire set! Back to the audio, as a 58 year old lifelong concert attendee, I always carry quality earplugs with me. I did not even think of using them for any of the 4 1/2 hours of music that we enjoyed. The sound was concert quality LOUD without getting into distortion. Everyone around me seemed to enjoy the show as much as I did. This was a fun night out for rock music with a nice big crowd.

Cage the Elephant is awesome!

Only caught the end of Bear Hands, but their set and Foals sounded good. Silversun Pickups was fun - Nikki the bassist was in a sequined dress and sparkly shoes and dancing around - she is a lot of fun to watch, and a great bassist. Cage the Elephant put on the best show of the night -their energy level is off the charts, they sounded great and just really looked like they were having fun! The lead singer of Foals ran off the stage and crowd surfed during CTE's encore - Brian and Nikki from SSPU also came out onstage and were dancing around. Just a great concert!

Solid Performance

Great lineup, performances were solid. Matthew is one of the most energetic vocalist I've seen perform. First time I saw a concert at the Gila River Arena. The sound would probably be my biggest complaint. It was by no means terrible but I've come to expect sound that usually isn't as good as a more intimate theater from arena shows. Cage the Elephant put on an impressive 20 song set only briefly exiting the stage for 5 minutes or so before returning for the encore. Definitely made up for that 50 minute headlining set they were given at Mesa Amphitheater in December 2014.
